Interview for TexanLady

This has been an interview I have been wanting to read and do for a long time!!!!

Basic information.

Can you please tell the people reading this your name?

Texanlady.  I have had my fair share of hate mail over the years, and more than a few threats, so I don’t feel comfortable giving out my real name.

Where do you like to post, and can you give us the site of your preferred medium?

On my blogspot.  Nyc posts everytihing, so I’m not sure what medium she uses.  I’m not very good with technology.  I just write it.

What do you prefer, Tea or Coffee?

Iced sweet tea.  Every Texan drinks it.

What is your favorite beverage of choice?  And if alcoholic and mixed, what are the ingredients?

I don’t drink alcohol anymore, and my all time favorite drink is a root beer float.

What is your funny story about trying something to drink and it rocked your boat and/or sucked?

I tried trashcan punch at a college party once.  Vomited all over my date.  Shame.  He was so hot.  Needless to say he didn’t ask for another date.

What foods do you love?

Anything with meat pretty much.

What is your go to food for comfort?

Buttered spaghetti.  My mom made it for me when I was little, and it is what I always want when I’m sick or upset.

What do you like to snack when writing?

No food when writing.  It messes with my flow.

Is there a scent that says home to you?

Horse manure.  When I smell it I remember all the good memories I’ve had with my family in the barn.  We spent far more time there than inside the house.

Is there a scent you wish you never smelled ever?

Burning hair.

If you could visit a place, anywhere, where would it be?

Narnia.

If you could go at any point in time, which would it be?

When I was 13.

What music do you like?

Blues is my all time favorite.

Is there a genre or song you hate?

Pretty much any of the crap coming out nowadays.  I don’t think music should be made by computers.  Give me a singer with a mic with a pianist and I’m happy.

Tell us something about yourself that you think your fans would love to know about:

I’m obsessed with Etsy.

Thanks. That gives us some basic information. Now, about the writing –   I know you’re excited…

Why did you start writing?

Elementary school.  I wrote my first short story in 5th grade.

What do you enjoy the most about it?

That I can make anything happen.

What do you like least about it?

Writer’s block.  She be a heartless bitch.

That first time hitting publish, how did you feel?

Proud.  Good or bad, I’d put myself out there.  It takes courage.

Where do you get your inspiration?

My dreams.

What is your writing area like do you use computer or paper, or both?  Or another medium?

I write my ideas down in a little journal, but when it comes to putting chapters together I take out my laptop and have at.

Do you use an outline, rough draft or just write?

I pretty much just write.  I take the ideas from my pocket journal and run with them.

What do you do while you’re writing (listen to music, TV in the background, etc.)?

I listen to music.

What annoys you the most when you are trying to write?

Interruptions.

If you have finished a fic, what was your feeling on it?

Satisfied.

What are your favorite fandoms to write?

Pretty much True Blood.  I would like to work in other fandoms, but since I’m trying to get my original novel finished I don’t have time to branch out.

Who are your favorite characters to write?

Eric.

Why?

Because he’s a drop dead sexy Nordic god.

Who are your least favorite characters to write?

Bill.

Why?

He’s such a rat.

What is your favorite scene or story you have written and why?

My favorite story I wrote was my Sookie Tortures a Viking series.  Most of it was hot and sultry, but the last installment meant a great deal to me.

What is the most difficult story or scene you have written, and why?

The scene in TA where Eric tries to force Sookie into wanting him and triggers her memories of being molested.  It took me to a dark place.

Do you see any characteristics in the characters you write?

A great deal.

Which ones and whom?

It’s more in my original characters.  In my True Blood stories I’m trying to keep them as true to their characters as possible, but in my own work I base many of my characters off of family and friends.

What do you like most about your preferred fandom?

Did I mention how sexy Alexander Skarsgard is?

How would you describe your fics?

Sex and angst.

What story would you recommend of your own for a new fan to start first?

The Arrangement.

Now the HARD questions:

If you could offer a suggestion to someone who is thinking of publishing their first story, what would it be?

Make sure you are writing for the right reasons.  If you’re writing for reviews or money you won’t last.  The nasty things people say will have you hightailing it with your tail tucked between your legs.  So write what YOU want, and share it with others.  As long as you’re enjoying the story you’re telling that is all that matters.

If you could go back in time, and give yourself one word of advice, what would you say?  (No Lottery numbers or anything like that!!!)

It gets better.

What 5 stories would you recommend someone read?  Please list fandom, sites and name with pairing.

All the stories I would recommend were taken down.  I haven’t had the chance to read much fanfiction in the past year.

Is there something you wished I asked, and if so, what as well as the answer.

Why do I write, and I write because it not only makes me happier, but it makes my world better.

Mythical Creature’s Winner whatarefilms Interview!

Let the Stars Unite Us

Hello!  Hello whatarefilms! So this is like the normal interview but with changed questions 🙂 First Congrats on winning first place for the Mythical Creatures Contest and thank you for writing!

So we are going to start out with some basic information for all of you.

Can you please tell the people reading this your name? My name is Carol, but my friends tend to yell out my name for some weird reason. When they text me it always comes out as CAAAARRRROOOLLL.

Penname? I go by whatarefilms and it’s just to show how much I love films by questioning what they are.

Link to your work? As of right now you can find me only on Fanfiction.net. I just started posting so I only have two up but I’m so proud of them.

Okay, so now the story questions!

What made you decide to write for the Non-Canon awards? I had recently won Kittynaz’s December challenge, and felt confident enough to go for it.

What made you choose that Pairing/Myth? I’ve always loved mythology, from the moment that I first watched the Disney version of Hercules to reading all the Greek and Roman myths in high school. I never really thought of Norse mythology much until it was mentioned in Supernatural, and then Thor. Plus, Hiddleston’s Loki is probably one of the best things to come out of the MCU along with RDJ’s Iron Man. Also, Bella is such a pliable character, and I always wanted her to be stronger, so when I write her, she’s that strong female lead that you want.

Are you a new follower or have been one since the beginning?  Follower since the beginning. Loved Loki in Thor, Avengers, and Thor:TDW. I’ve followed Twilight ever since it came out but Bella’s character in the books really hurt me in my soul, so I love when authors do her justice and make her better, especially when it’s non-cannon. Author Interview: Buggy

Buggy

I’m going to get back into the hang of things with interviews! So everyone I’d like to intro Buggy! She has graciously agreed to answer our questions for you all! Welcome Buggy!

Thanks for having me 🙂

So we are going to start out with some basic information for all of you.

All of me? Last time I checked, I’m a single person. No twin. *looks around* Nope. Just me.

Can you please tell the people reading this your name?

Buggy. Last time someone called me Anita was… well, real life related. And I don’t like the real world.

Where do you like to post, and can you give us the site of your preferred medium?

I usually post on fanfiction.net (buggyfiction), my wordpress site and BetterInTexas.

What do you like to snack on when writing?

I usually eat crisps/chips. And I’m a smoker.

Like the question above but what do you listen to when you write, do you have a playlist for certain stories?

Not really. I listen to Lindsey Stirling a lot when writing because her music has (barely) no words and instrumental music keeps you going whilst writing. Less distraction from words.

Tell us something about yourself that you think your fans would love to know about:   Continue reading Author Interview: Buggy

Author Interview: Meeko!

Meeko

Meeko! Welcome Meeko and thanks for doing the interview! Though I sent this before you agreed I do believe, but either way!!!!

We are going to start out with some basic information for all of you.

Can you please tell the people reading this your name?

Uhm… Meeko?

Where do you like to post, and can you give us the site of your preferred medium?

I post on fanfiction.net, my website and BetterInTexas.

What do you like to snack on when writing?

Some kind of crackers. Townhouse Flatbreads, Italian Herbs.

Like the question above, but what do you listen to when you write, do you have a playlist for certain stories?

I listen to Buggy yap away on Skype, and then I might listen to some country music or pop, but generally music gives me a headache.

Tell us something about yourself that you think your fans would love to know about:

I’m working on a collaboration with Buggy. The story we’ve just started to post is complete and we’ve begun on the sequel. It’s a Twilight/Covert Affairs story called Back At Your Door. And we definitely need to stop titling stories with a B. We have too much of those.

Thanks.  That gives us some basic information.  Now, about the writing –   I know you’re excited…

Why did you start writing? Continue reading Author Interview: Meeko!

secret-nerd-princess-banner-e1432316304561

Basic information.

Can you please tell the people reading this your name?  Secret Nerd Princess

Where do you like to post, and can you give us the site of your preferred medium?
The first place new chapters go up is on my wordpress site: https://secretnerdprincess.wordpress.com/ and it’s the only site that has all my stories, fanfiction, original, and poetry. But I also post on Fanfiction, Better in Texas, Archive of our Own, and TheFlashArrowFanfiction. I’m Secret Nerd Princess on all of them.

What do you prefer, Tea or Coffee?
Coffee. Always coffee. Unless I’m sick, then it’s coffee with a side of tea.

What is your favorite beverage of choice?  And if alcoholic and mixed, what are the ingredients?
Non Alcoholic: Coffee, I have a serious addiction to the little Starbuck’s Doubleshot cans. Alcoholic: I’m a whiskey girl, mostly on the rocks with a splash of water, but sometimes I’ll go for a whiskey and ginger (ale.)  Whiskey of choice is Bushmill’s.

What is your funny story about trying something to drink and it rocked your boat and/or sucked?
When I was much younger someone bought me a shot of Tequila Rose, which to this day I’m not sure if it’s a mixed shot or an actual liquor. All in all it’s disgusting: think Bailey’s mixed with Tequila. My mouth hated me after that.

What foods do you love?
Sushi. Cheddar Bratwursts. Kraft Mac and Cheese. Tacos. Baked potatoes with lots of sour cream—sometimes I just have a baked potato for dinner.

What is your go to food for comfort?
My dad’s Chicken Pot Pie (dutch style—meaning no crust, but big, thick noodles)

What do you like to snack when writing?
Either dry roasted peanuts or Smokehouse Blue Diamond Almonds and some form of chocolate (normally with caramel.) I always have Starbuck’s Doubleshots on hand. Always.

Is there a scent that says home to you?
Not really, but I do love the way the wind smells right before it rains.

Is there a scent you wish you never smelled ever?
Gasoline.

If you could visit a place, anywhere, where would it be?
Scotland. I’ve always wanted to go there. There and Peru. Oh! And the Yucatan Peninsula.

If you could go at any point in time, which would it be?
England during the reign of Queen Elizabeth.  She was such a badass. And then I’d get to meet Shakespeare, preferably in a little pub where we can get drunk together. I’d love to pick his brain.

What music do you like?
I like all kinds and don’t really limit myself by genre, but if you were to take a look at my collection it’s mostly good old fashioned bar bands, The Hold Steady and Lucero for example, or pop punk, think Green Day. Bruce Springsteen and The Hold Steady are my favorites though.

Is there a genre or song you hate?
Anything misogynistic. And there’s an awful lot of it out there in every genre. The one song I cannot stand to listen to though is “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy.” Really? In what universe is a tractor sexy? I don’t even get it. A hot, sweaty, shirtless man driving a tractor—sure—but the tractor itself, nope.

Tell us something about yourself that you think your fans would love to know about:
I’ve been known to instigate dance parties: anywhere, anytime. In friends’ houses, at bars, in the kitchen at whatever restaurant I’m working at. I’m especially fond of cranking up the stereo in my living room and dancing by myself.

Thanks. That gives us some basic information. Now, about the writing –   I know you’re excited…

Why did you start writing?
You know, despite the fact that I’ve been writing since I was in my early teen years, I’m not one of those people who remember making up stories when they were a kid. I’ve just always loved reading and writing seemed an extension of that. I didn’t actually start writing fiction until a few years back in a Creative Writing class. I always wanted to try my hand at fiction, I’d been a poet up until that point, but I discovered I really like telling stories.

What do you enjoy the most about it?
Figuring out the best way to phrase something. It comes from starting out as a poet. In poetry, you’re always finding the perfect word, so that seems to have trickled over into my stories. I love beautifully written sentences that make you catch your breath after you read them. Recently, The Night Circus inspired that in me. The prose in that book makes me cry.

What do you like least about it?
That I never seem to have enough time to write. I’m constantly bribing myself with writing time. “If you do one load of laundry, you can write for the entire time.” “If you do the dishes, you can write for one hour.” Sometimes I don’t even bribe myself, though, I just figure the dishes aren’t going anywhere.

That first time hitting publish, how did you feel?
Absolute fear—I love my chapters until they go live, and then it’s all worrying. “Is my Sookie too whiny? My Eric too harsh?” “Did I use the wrong word?” “Will my readers like the chapter?” “Is it finally gonna come out that I’m a total and utter fraud?”

Where do you get your inspiration?
I work in the restaurant industry, so my stories are an escape for me. I’m constantly working out plotlines in my head while I’m taking orders. If you’ve never worked in the industry you have no idea how poorly people treat their servers or the things they say in front of the bartender. We don’t rank as real people to them, so they show their worst sides. That being said, I’ve also had the privilege of waiting on some of the nicest people ever. The nice people inspire good characters, the mean people—well let’s just say I didn’t write a story about a serial killer bartender without inspiration.

What is your writing area like do you use computer or paper, or both?  Or another medium?
When I’m writing it’s always on computer, but I have a legal sized notepad on a clipboard where I work out issues with stories or scribble down new ideas.

Do you use an outline, rough draft or just write?
Story outlines are written out on the legal pad, but chapter outlines only ever exist in my head.

What do you do while you’re writing (listen to music, TV in the background, etc.)?
When I’m writing the main body of a chapter I’ve usually got the TV on in the background, usually Netflix, writing in silence just doesn’t work for me. I love that I can just pick a TV show and let Netflix do its thing. But when I’m editing, I have to have silence, I get distracted and miss things otherwise.

What annoys you the most when you are trying to write?
People. I very much get into a zone when I’m writing. I don’t mind answering a text message here or there, but if the conversation goes on too long, I can’t deal. It takes me out of the moment.

If you have finished a fic, what was your feeling on it?
Besides one shots, I have two finished stories. Dead on Arrival was my very first full-length story. I look back on it now and I have such mixed feelings about it. I love the story itself, but I feel like it’s obvious in the writing that it’s my first story. When I finished Wonderland, on the other hand, I cried. I felt like it was the story where I really found my “voice” and writing style.

What are your favorite fandoms to write?
I only write in SVM, Arrow, and Doctor Who. It takes very special characters to grip me enough to make me want to write them adventures. Stories for me always start with “What happens if…” I may branch out eventually, but my stories are tied directly to characters so I need a good idea. I would love to write for Battlestar Galactica, I adore Starbuck and Apollo, but I’ve never come up with a good idea for them.

That being said, Sookie and Eric will always be my favorites to write.

Who are your favorite characters to write
Eric Northman, Pamela Ravenscroft, and Felicity Smoak

Why?
Eric Northman: He has such a rich history, but it’s mostly undefined. Both of his makers despised him, I don’t. I like writing him because he’s such a challenge to write. There needs to be balance between him being an arrogant thousand-year-old vampire and a Viking with a heart of gold.

Pamela Ravenscroft: She’s Pam. ‘Nough said.

Felicity Smoak: She comes the closest of all the characters that’s most like me. With her, I can write all the witty, snarky language I use on a daily basis. I love her because she seems all lightness and hope, but there’s an undercurrent of darkness and pain inside her that she hides so well. Also? I always wanted to be a hacker.

Who are your least favorite characters to write?
Right now? Ray Palmer from Arrow.

Why?
I hated the way his character was written and how he treated Felicity in the third season. If his issues had been addressed on the show I might feel differently, but they weren’t, so he left an appalling taste in my mouth, which makes it really hard to write him without that seeping through.

What is your favorite scene or story you have written and why?
The epilogue of Wonderland. I love writing romance tinged with heartbreak. The Doctor lived his happy ending, but at the end of it all came to say goodbye to Eric and Sookie.

The other scene I loved writing was Freyda’s Halloween party in Dead on Arrival. Based off of Dante’s nine levels of hell, it was the first time I really tried to write something dark and disturbing. I had much more fun with it than I would have thought.

What is the most difficult story or scene you have written, and why?
The ending of the most recent chapter of Much Ado About Vampires. Sookie and Eric are still being stubborn. They still aren’t on the same page, but as their writer, I know they’re perfect for each other. They’re both so lost right now and I just want to make it right. I just wanted them to yell at each other and get out all their concerns, but then kiss and make up. Unfortunately, they aren’t there yet.

Do you see any characteristics in the characters you write?
Yes.

Which ones and whom?
Pam’s potty mouth. Pam and Felicity’s snark. Sookie’s stubbornness.

What do you like most about your preferred fandom?
I love Sookie and Eric. They’re so in love, but they have no idea. I just want to knock their heads together and lock them in a room until they work it out. They’re both flawed and I love flawed characters. I hate when they make bad decisions, but they seem more human to me that way.

How would you describe your fics?
Darkness with a side of romance. Romance with a side of darkness.

What story would you recommend of your own for a new fan to start first?
Wonderland. It has all the characteristics of my other fics, but I think it’s the most accessible, despite being a crossover. You don’t have to be a Doctor Who fan or a Sookie Vampire Mysteries fan to enjoy it. Though if you’re a fan of either, there’s a lot there for you to love. Not to mention, it’s the closest I’ve ever come to writing a straight up romance.

Now the HARD questions:

If you could offer a suggestion to someone who is thinking of publishing their first story, what would it be?
Just do it. Stop worrying about what people will think of it (advice I still struggle to follow.) If you’ve got a story that just won’t leave you alone, then sit down and write it.

If you could go back in time, and give yourself one word of advice, what would you say?  (No Lottery numbers or anything like that!!!)
No.

What 5 stories would you recommend someone read?  Please list fandom, sites and name with pairing.
SVM: Fairytale Amber—Wordpress: Scratches – Eric and Sookie
True Blood: Meridian—AddictedtoGodric—Wordpress: Anticipating – Godric and Cara
SVM: Wannabewriter25—Fanfiction: I Remember You – Eric and Sookie
True Blood: Realjena—Wordpress: A Thousand Years – Eric and Sookie
Arrow: Dettiot—Fanfiction: Blinded by Love and Daring – Oliver and Felicity

Is there something you wished I asked, and if so, what as well as the answer.
Is it even possible to pick a favorite Kittyinaz story? Answer: No.

::Blushing:: Umm. Yeah.  Wow.  Thanks Secret Nerd Princess!!!!!

And what can I say after that?  Umm… Go visit her and check her out, she is freaking awesome.  Seriously!  I might be biased, since she is the beta for MamaKitty, but still, I have loved all her stories!

Thanks for reading!

Interview for Katfergie

So, Here we are with another interview!!! I am amazed that each time I notify a writer of their story being reviewed, they have done an interview!  Amazing!!!

Katfergie-1

Basic information.

Can you please tell the people reading this your name? Katfergie

Where do you like to post, and can you give us the site of your preferred medium? I have posted on Fanfiction, livejournal, TWCS, but I prefer fanfiction

What do you prefer, Tea or Coffee? Love tea, especially jasmine tea.

What is your favorite beverage of choice? And if alcoholic and mixed, what are the ingredients? I love limeade, not the type you get at Sonic’s drive in but fresh squeezed limes with sugar.

What is your funny story about trying something to drink and it rocked your boat and/or sucked? I went out after work with some co worker who ordered a drink for me that they raved about. The only problem is that I am allergic to cherries and you guessed it the drink had maraschino cherry puree and juice. Needless to say I had to leave in a hurry swelling up is never attractive, and breathing is important.

What foods do you love? I love seafood in all its many forms. Steamed , baked, broiled,BBQ, grilled, roasted, even raw in some cases.

What is your go to food for comfort? crawfish etouffee or crab chowder

What do you like to snack when writing? cheese sticks, apple slices

Is there a scent that says home to you? sandalwood and jasmine, Those scents together remind me of sitting with my grandpa on the porch near the garden during the summer when I was a child

Is there a scent you wish you never smelled ever? dead possum

If you could visit a place, anywhere, where would it be? Egypt I would love to see the pyramids, and it’s one of the few places I’ve never traveled too.

If you could go at any point in time, which would it be? Mid to Late 19th century, because I loved the Victorian clothes

What music do you like? Almost everything

Is there a genre or song you hate? Hardcore rap and deathmetal

Tell us something about yourself that you think your fans would love to know about: I traveled quite a bit when I was in the military and I am a voracious reader. A friend originally told me about fanfiction because I was complaining about having to wait for books that were part of a series taking too long to come out.

Thanks. That gives us some basic information. Now, about the writing –   I know you’re excited…

Why did you start writing? I started writing poems and short stories way back in high school, but I started writing fanfiction on a whim when one of my girlfriends and I were joking around after watching an episode of True Blood, and told me I should write a story about true blood so I did.

What do you enjoy the most about it? It may sound strange but writing quiets down my mind, I’m so focused on what I’m writing all the other chaos becomes background static

What do you like least about it? I hate typing!

That first time hitting publish, how did you feel? Relieved and scared, I thought well I did I it, but putting my thoughts and ideas out there for everyone to judge is just a little bit scary

Where do you get your inspiration? Music mostly, sometimes a photo, something one of my kids says or a quote of the day it can be anything really life is full of inspirations depending how you look at it.

What is your writing area like do you use computer or paper, or both? Or another medium? This will sound odd since I already said I hate typing, and I really do, but I prefer computers. Because really, GOD BLESS SPELLCHECK!

Do you use an outline, rough draft or just write? I just write, I have a concept in my mind so I can roughly tell you the story but as I write it just flows and sometimes what I thought was going on changes and becomes so much better than the rough idea.

What do you do while you’re writing (listen to music, TV in the background, etc.)? I listen to music the most, but sometimes I just sit in silence and just feel what I’m writing.

What annoys you the most when you are trying to write? You know that point when you hit a groove and the words are just flowing out of you …and then the phone rings!

If you have finished a fic, what was your feeling on it? I haven’t finished yet

What are your favorite fandoms to write? True Blood is the only fandom I’ve published thus far but I’ve also written Harry Potter, and Inuyasha

Who are your favorite characters to write? Godric most definitely, I like background characters and male character the most

Why? He’s an known entity with so much room for expansion, we are given just enough background to make him interesting but it’s up to me to flesh him out and bring him to life. In general I prefer a males perspective to a females. I have been a tomboy or one of the guys most of my life, most of my friends and coworker are or were men. Guys are easier to relate to for me.

Who are your least favorite characters to write? I don’t care to write the perspective of lead characters or women

Why? everyone already has a preconceived idea of that character because you’ve already read so much about them I have known only two women who were close friends as an adult so you can pretty much say that I don’t understand most women.

What is your favorite scene or story you have written and why? My favorite scene was the takeover of Louisiana the fighting was fun to write and figuring out the logistics was challenging

What is the most difficult story or scene you have written, and why? Emotional scenes like when her Gran died are difficult for me to write

Do you see any characteristics in the characters you write? Sometimes

Which ones and whom? currently none

What do you like most about your preferred fandom? The fantasy of it all, and for the most part how supportive the feedback is

How would you describe your fics? romantic drama

What story would you recommend of your own for a new fan to start first? Well I only have the one to read so far.

Now the HARD questions:

If you could offer a suggestion to someone who is thinking of publishing their first story, what would it be? Take in the positive and let go of the negative. There is always going to be that one person that has something nasty to say. More likely than not you will have more positive feedback than negative so don’t let that one negative out of one hundred get you down.

If you could go back in time, and give yourself one word of advice, what would you say? (No Lottery numbers or anything like that!!!) Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there!

What 5 stories would you recommend someone read? Please list fandom, sites and name with pairing.

Interview for Poca

Love when the ladies I am reviewing are thrilled to do the interview parts!!! Here is one for the lovely Poca!!!

Poca 1

Basic information.

Can you please tell the people reading this your name?

I write under the name Poca, but you can call me Rose.

Where do you like to post, and can you give us the site of your preferred medium?

I like to post on fanfiction.net and tumblr, hopefully I can branch out soon!

What do you prefer, Tea or Coffee?

I’m not a big drinker of either.

What is your favorite beverage of choice?  And if alcoholic and mixed, what are the ingredients?

Not a big alcohol drinker, but my favorite drink would have to be… pomegranate juice?

What is your funny story about trying something to drink and it rocked your boat and/or sucked?

It’s not a funny story, but my best friend let me try her bailey and I ended up having two glasses of it and laughing and snorting like a damn fool. I’m a light-weight.

What foods do you love?

Pastas, baked goodies, pizzas and some nice fricase de pollo. Those are my weaknesses.

What is your go to food for comfort?

Oh, that’s easy. I love making cookies and brownies when I want comfort foods, I just make and drown myself in them.

What do you like to snack when writing?

Peanut butter and Nutella sandwiches.

Is there a scent that says home to you?

That would have to be my mom’s and grandma’s favorite perfume, White Diamonds.

Is there a scent you wish you never smelled ever?

Wet garbage, sadly. Thinking about it is already making me want to throw up.

If you could visit a place, anywhere, where would it be?

I would love to visit Puerto Rico. Family came from there and I would love to see it.

If you could go at any point in time, which would it be?

Either to see all the dinosaurs or ancient roman/Greek times. My love for dinosaurs runs deep, as does my love for ancient roman/Greek times.

What music do you like?

I don’t have a specific type of music I like. It’s just a jumble of different types and it keeps it fresh.

Is there a genre or song you hate?

House music? I guess. I don’t hate it, it’s just I don’t like very loud and deep bass music so I tend to avoid it.

Tell us something about yourself that you think your fans would love to know about:

I am a boring person, if you hadn’t guessed by my answers, but it’s the boring type of stuff I like to do. Staying in bed with my laptop or tablet, reading until it runs out of battery and I have to panic, watching let’s plays, hanging out at my friend’s house and doing the same stuff I do at my own house and baking!

Thanks. That gives us some basic information. Now, about the writing –   I know you’re excited…

Why did you start writing?

I’ve always liked writing little plots and stuff for comics I use to draw when I was little, but that grew into writing online!

What do you enjoy the most about it?

I enjoy putting my ideas out there and people enjoying them to the point they ask for more.

What do you like least about it?

When I have a roadblock. I can’t find the words or the energy to write and pushing myself makes me feel like the writing is not up to par if I do that.

That first time hitting publish, how did you feel?

Nervous. Completely nervous. I was, what… 15? 16? And I was scared that people were going to react negatively.

Where do you get your inspiration?

Listening to music. For some reason certain songs will put a thought into my mind and I just say ‘Oh! That might be a good idea!’

What is your writing area like do you use computer or paper, or both?  Or another medium?

I have tons of notebooks and documents on my laptop filled with little things for my stories.

Do you use an outline, rough draft or just write?

Most of the time, I just write and write, but after I get a random idea when listening to music I will go back and fix some stuff around.

What do you do while you’re writing (listen to music, TV in the background, etc.)?

I need sound as I do anything. Anything. Most of the time it’s either music or the sound of my favorite let’s players. I rarely watch TV, but I will keep it on so I don’t freak out over the silence.

What annoys you the most when you are trying to write?

Not having the energy to write. I beat myself up over it all the time.

If you have finished a fic, what was your feeling on it?

I haven’t finished a fic yet, but I’m almost done with my oldest one.

What are your favorite fandoms to write?

I don’t have a favorite, but I’ve written True Blood, Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us/Fables. Those are the ones that have come out. I have many more fandoms that I have written a couple chapters for but not released.

Who are your favorite characters to write?

Other than my OC’s, hm… in my True Blood story I would have to say Pam. Walking Dead, Daryl, no doubt. WAU would be Bigby.

Why?

They’re all fun to write and have grumpy attitudes most of the time.

Who are your least favorite characters to write?

Um… father figures? I guess?

Why?

Gonna get personal here, but I don’t have a good view with father figures so that shows in my writing, sadly.

What is your favorite scene or story you have written and why?

Right now, I love writing my Wolf Among Us story more. I loved the comics and the game so to write in the fandom is fun.

What is the most difficult story or scene you have written, and why?

The first chapter is always the hardest because I want to write something that will capture the person, not make them just go and look for a better one.

Do you see any characteristics in the characters you write?

Oh yeah. Big time. I add little bits of myself into the characters I write all the time.

Which ones and whom?

Miri, from my walking dead story, has my reaction to oranges. Charlotte, from the True Blood story, has my hard-headedness and Red, from my Wolf Among Us story, has my attitude.

What do you like most about your preferred fandom?

I don’t really have a preferred fandom.

How would you describe your fics?

Drama, smut, angst, romance and some violence. I guess.

What story would you recommend of your own for a new fan to start first?

Depends, what type of story are they looking for exactly? What Are You?, my True Blood story, is cheesy vampire romance with some detailed smut. New World In My View, my Walking Dead story is nearly the same but with walkers. Cursed is taking the old red riding hood folktale and giving it a little spin.

Now the HARD questions:

If you could offer a suggestion to someone who is thinking of publishing their first story, what would it be?

Don’t be so nervous. Go over your story, make sure it makes sense to you so it would make sense to the readers, go over it again to lessen those feelings of doubt. Also, take criticism with open arms, sometimes it helps.

If you could go back in time, and give yourself one word of advice, what would you say?  (No Lottery numbers or anything like that!!!)

Oh, that’s easy. Since I was in a mentally and emotionally abusive relationship in the past, I would tell myself to run earlier so I wouldn’t have dealt with all that pain.

What 5 stories would you recommend someone read?  Please list fandom, sites and name with pairing.

Uh, I can only think of the stories I’m reading right now and waiting for.

Interview for Queen of Area Five

Here is the interview Queen of Area Five did for me!!!

10682310_10152338683547102_1994289518379025041_o

Basic information.

Can you please tell the people reading this your name? VampQueenV/Queen of Area Five.

Where do you like to post, and can you give us the site of your preferred medium? I only post on WordPress these days queenofareafive.wordpress.com and sunsetqueens.wordpress.com as part of the Sunset Queens.

What do you prefer, Tea or Coffee? Tea

What is your favorite beverage of choice?  And if alcoholic and mixed, what are the ingredients? Pepsi

What is your funny story about trying something to drink and it rocked your boat and/or sucked?  I don’t really have one.

What foods do you love?  I’m a picky eater, so I tend to stick to normal/classic foods. Ham, chicken, tomato soup, etc…

What is your go to food for comfort? Sausages sandwiches.

What do you like to snack when writing? I don’t usually eat while writing, but if I do it’s usually chocolate.

Is there a scent that says home to you? Not really.

Is there a scent you wish you never smelled ever? Fish. I can’t stand the smell of fresh fish.

If you could visit a place, anywhere, where would it be? Probably New York.

If you could go at any point in time, which would it be? The 1920’s in Chicago.

What music do you like? Most kinds. I listen to country, rock, rap, pop, RnB, sixties.

Is there a genre or song you hate? Not really.

Tell us something about yourself that you think your fans would love to know about:  I have more ideas than time… (laughs) I never learned how to swim. I honestly have no idea…

Thanks. That gives us some basic information. Now, about the writing –   I know you’re excited…

Why did you start writing? I’ve been writing on and off since I was a child. Stories for school, stories I just wanted to write. I started writing fan fiction back in 2007. Back then I was (still am) a big X-Men fan and I was flicking channels on TV one night and caught the end of the first X-Men movie. The characters of Rogue and Wolverine drew me in. The chemistry between Anna Paquin and Hugh Jackman (in my opinion) was off the charts, and I started reading fics about them, and then I wanted to try my hand at writing one. From there I moved onto Harry Potter, and then finally True Blood/Southern Vampire Mysteries.

What do you enjoy the most about it? The ability to express myself through writing. I love losing myself in a story and character, twisting them and putting them in positions they wouldn’t normally find themselves. I love exploring different aspects of a character. I just love writing.

What do you like least about it? Honestly? Beginnings. It doesn’t matter how much I’ve plotted the story out in my head I always have trouble beginning them. Finding the right words to open a story and draw readers in is a pain in the arse to me.

That first time hitting publish, how did you feel? Oh hell, so nervous. I’d be reading stories months before I even tried my hand at one and it came with the fear of not measuring up and embarrassing myself.

Where do you get your inspiration? Everywhere. It can be from a line of a song, a small clip of a TV show. I have to give my beta, co-writer, and friend Ashensunset a lot of credit. She’s the only person I really reveal all to when it comes to stories, and she can help take a simple idea and turn it massive.

What is your writing area like do you use computer or paper, or both?  Or another medium? I use almost everything possible. My computer, a pen and paper, my iPad, my phone.

Do you use an outline, rough draft or just write? It usually depends on the story. The stories I co-write with Ashensunset are all usually outlined and drafted in Google Drive. Plus we use Facebook Messenger to talk and outlined things. Most of my own (single) stories I tend to just write. I always have a basic idea in my head, but I don’t really write an outline or draft.

What do you do while you’re writing (listen to music, TV in the background, etc.)? Listen to music. I usually put a CD on or listen to the radio.

What annoys you the most when you are trying to write? Distractions or more to the point the distractions I’m actually responsible for myself. I’ll have twitter running in the background and I’m bound to get distracted by it at some point. It’s my own entire fault.

If you have finished a fic, what was your feeling on it? Accomplishment and relief. I’m often relieved to be finished it, but at the same time a little sad that it’s over.

What are your favorite fandoms to write? Southern Vampires Mysteries/True Blood.

Who are your favorite characters to write? Sookie Stackhouse and currently Jason Stackhouse.

Why? I love playing with the character of Sookie. I feel she often gets a hard time in fics. She’s portrayed in ways that I personally don’t like and I like writing her as I see her. As for Jason… Because he’s so much fun to write.

Who are your least favorite characters to write? Lafayette Reynolds.

Why? I can never get his voice right. He has an interesting way of speaking, and I struggle with it. Which sucks as I love the character and use him often.

What is your favorite scene or story you have written and why? My favourite story is for one I haven’t published yet. It’s called Behind the Public Masks. Why? Because it’s such a different story from my usual. I’ve put my main character (Sookie) in a newish world and I love writing her in it. She’s different than canon Sookie and it’s so refreshing to me as a writer to explore it. (As you can see this was behind the times, since this is published!)

What is the most difficult story or scene you have written, and why? The rape in Answer to the Master. Even though it was a crucial turning point of the story it was incredible difficult to write. I was talking to Ashensunset or messaging her as we wrote it, and we was trying to decide how far to go, what to show… We knew it was coming from the start, but it still proved extremely difficult to write.

Do you see any characteristics in the characters you write? Sometimes.

Which ones and whom? It’s mainly the humour in Sookie in all my stories. Her humour is basically mine.

What do you like most about your preferred fandom? The people. I’ve met some incredible people through my involvement in the True Blood/Southern Vampire Mysteries fandom. I consider a few of them friends.

How would you describe your fics? A little bit of everything. But romantic at heart.

What story would you recommend of your own for a new fan to start first?  A Marriage of Inconvenience. It’s probably my most popular and it’s a fun little fic.

Now the HARD questions:

If you could offer a suggestion to someone who is thinking of publishing their first story, what would it be? Get a beta. The good ones won’t only edit it for mistakes; they’ll also offer suggestions and give you advice. A good beta is invaluable in my opinion.

If you could go back in time, and give yourself one word of advice, what would you say?  (No Lottery numbers or anything like that!!!) Don’t be afraid to try.

What 5 stories would you recommend someone read?  Please list fandom, sites and name with pairing.

Beauty and the Beast – Magsmacdonald http://magsmacdonald.wordpress.com/beauty-and-the-vampire-beast/ Eric/Sookie

Interview for FairyTale Amber

Here is the interview I conducted with FairyTale Amber. As always, click on the banner to be taken to her site.

Enjoy!

cropped-cropped-11105994_1679177178984068_766412070_o81

Basic information.

Can you please tell the people reading this your name? Hello, I write as FairyTaleAmber.

Where do you like to post, and can you give us the site of your preferred medium? The Writer’s Coffee Shop, Fanfiction and my own site, fairytaleamber.wordpress.com. That is my go-to spot.

What do you prefer, Tea or Coffee? Coffee, yum! All hours of the day and night.

What is your favorite beverage of choice? And if alcoholic and mixed, what are the ingredients? Coca-Cola, as for alcoholic, I love a good wine. Pinot Grig but Reds are yummy too!

What is your funny story about trying something to drink and it rocked your boat and/or sucked? I was twenty-five and in my mind officially an adult. Tried a mocha for the first time and fell madly in love. They mix chocolate and caffeine? Who knew?

What foods do you love? Italian, definitely Italian. There is always room for pasta and bread.

What is your go to food for comfort? Popcorn, salt and buttery and you can add chocolate to that too for an explosion of flavor. Actually, I have to amend that, depending on the emotional issue, I hit the hard stuff: Cookie Dough Ice Cream!

What do you like to snack when writing? Popcorn, sure, chocolate definitely. Especially when it comes to the smuttier part of the story. It seems to work just perfectly.

Is there a scent that says home to you? Clean Linen and Vanilla

Is there a scent you wish you never smelled ever? Burnt hair mixed with popcorn. Ugh! Maybe even the smell of some cooked veggies. I like most things but those smells are nasty.

If you could visit a place, anywhere, where would it be? Europe, come on it’s full of history and culture. And probably some snobs who hate Americans, it would be my pleasure to kill them with kindness.

If you could go at any point in time, which would it be? Good question…just one time period? I would ask for the secret third option of a time machine so that I may travel to many different times. Just no getting hung up in the past. I can leave whenever I damn well please!

What music do you like? I have eclectic tastes, Pop, Rock-n-Roll, Classical, Opera, Rap, depends on my mood and the tone I want to set in the story.

Is there a genre or song you hate? What the song about the guy singing about a douche? From the seventies. Oh, so gross!

Tell us something about yourself that you think your fans would love to know about: I am an artist. Before I became a writer (less than a year ago) my art was sold worldwide and in local galleries. I have recently moved and in the process of making connections locally to start again. I love to paint, it is the time when I feel I am doing what I was always meant to. Writing is right there, I would have been too afraid to jot my ideas down if not for the encouragement of my writer friends.

Thanks. That gives us some basic information. Now, about the writing –   I know you’re excited…

Why did you start writing? Short story, I love the SVM/TB fandom. Been a faithful reader and follower/stalker for years. Then my faith was punished by the writers/creators and I thought…I don’t have to put up with this bullshit! I’ll write my own.

What do you enjoy the most about it? I am the one in control. Well actually that is not true. I have broad strokes of what I want or think will happen in any given story. Then chapter by chapter the characters demand what I do for them. I believe the term is call “author intrusion.” When you try to bend your players to your will instead of following the story they are telling. It’s a fine balance. The relationship I have created with Sookie and Eric is varied depending on if they want to tell me their story and if I want to listen.

What do you like least about it? Just like in painting, the muse is a fickle bitch. When she wants center stage in her shimmering glitter dress demanding attention through the loud speaker or when she draws the red velvet curtains and punishes me for having a life. She is the most frustrating woman I know. And yet, I grovel at her feet.

That first time hitting publish, how did you feel? Nervous excited! I had the workings of a number of chapters for months. Thinking I would just write Dead and Loving It! Out first before any publishing. My friend, MySecretO, nicely said, “No fucking way! Don’t wait! Do it! Do it! Do IT!” So I did, best decision I ever made.

Where do you get your inspiration? Where don’t I find inspiration? It is everywhere. The conversations I have with people, music I listen to, and movies I watch. Of course, I have a pretty good memory of cannon and know exactly where the writer’s started to piss me off. I call those the “easy pickings.” LOL!

What is your writing area like do you use computer or paper, or both? Or another medium? I am all about the electronics, Laptop, Desktop when hubby is using the Laptop for Law School and my phone. It is a great note taker when I’m out and the muse hits me upside the head with a scene or story.

Do you use an outline, rough draft or just write? Only my latest story have I just written. “A Brush With Death” Everyone else has a detailed outline, bios and rough drafts. I do not have a BETA, so I go in and edit multiple times before I publish.

What do you do while you’re writing (listen to music, TV in the background, etc.)? Either listen to music or sweet, sweet silence. I am one of those people easily distracted by shiny objects (hence, why my muse wears sparkly things to get my attention)

What annoys you the most when you are trying to write? Any distractions, my muse scowls and claws at anything that tries to drag me away.

If you have finished a fic, what was your feeling on it? My first thought is, “Are you sure? Is that all there is?” As a reader in and out of the fandom, I can feel when something was left incomplete. I don’t want my readers holding a letdown. I want to walk away from my experience happy. Glad I didn’t waste my time and energy chasing the story.

What are your favorite fandoms to write? True Blood and the Southern Vampire Mysteries, also known as the Sookie Stackhouse Novels.

Who are your favorite characters to write? Sookie and Eric

Why? For me they are the heart of this fandom. They were always meant to be and they have the most interesting take on the world around them.

Who are your least favorite characters to write? Bill or Niall, really any of the fairies.

Why? Bill is a bastard of the first order. His POV ends up being creepy. The Royal Fae? Well, they are a mystery to me. What are their powers? What are their motivations? Depending on the day, I couldn’t tell you. Eric doesn’t trust the Fae, and Sookie can be too naïve when someone says they are her family. All these characters are the epitome of manipulative and I don’t have the best eye for it.

What is your favorite scene or story you have written and why? Wow! One? Okay, let’s start with Dead and Loving It! Sookie is waiting for Eric at his home after Pam helped her get inside. She is nervous to tell Eric that she is in love with him and what her expectations are for their relationship. When he doesn’t have the reaction she thought, Sookie starts saying she will find a way to break the blood bond. That is when Eric loses it and tells her in short order that she is his! Emotional roller coaster and making love. What else is there? In case you haven’t read any of my work, I enjoy writing smut, yummy, lemon smut!

What is the most difficult story or scene you have written, and why? Oh boy, it was in Scratches. There was another character begging to save Godric but Sookie was the conduit for his redemption. Sharing blood and such with someone who is not your mate and everyone had a panic attack. The characters not the readers. Although there was some discussion concerning three-ways. Any-who. I wanted to get the tone just write before hitting publish. For me, if I can re-read something and not understand what the fuck is happening, why continue?

Do you see any characteristics in the characters you write? No and yes.

Which ones and whom? It’s like, I wish I had Eric’s confidence. He owns the room and everything in it without saying a word. Pam is underestimated and then she surprises me when she deals out a line or commits varied acts of violence without any remorse. Sookie is very tender-hearted and she lets that chip away at her self-esteem. Sometimes it really pisses me off and I have to think of ways to show Sookie who she can trust. Sometimes, it’s harder to trust yourself.

What do you like most about your preferred fandom? The supernatural aspect is amazing. So many species to play with and watch them interact with each other. Also, the idea of loving yourself. It’s easy to get sucked into your own head about not being good enough, smart enough, pretty enough. What it really comes down to, is that you were and will always be enough. Don’t let the hater’s hate and live the life you want.

How would you describe your fics? Emotionally satisfying-Smut-Action-Thrillers!

What story would you recommend of your own for a new fan to start first? “Don’t Say I Didn’t Warn Ya” It is a fun, dramatic short story. Try four chapters, all taking place in the book series where the Sookie Stackhouse I know would have made another choice when she found Eric drinking from Kim Rowe at his home.

Now the HARD questions:

If you could offer a suggestion to someone who is thinking of publishing their first story, what would it be? Don’t let that publish button stop you! There is a world you know you belong in and it is only a click away. Every writer I know, including myself, never regretted publishing their work and getting it out there. Go for it!

If you could go back in time, and give yourself one word of advice, what would you say? (No Lottery numbers or anything like that!!!) Life is short, do everything you are scared of and have no regrets.

What 5 stories would you recommend someone read? Please list fandom, sites and name with pairing.

Only 5? I’ll try, but there are so many!!! All from the fandom of SVM/TB:

*Love Eternal by Justwonderingneverlost, Eric and Sookie pairing

*The Big Bang by idream3223, Eric and Sookie paring

*Lover’s Amnesia by Gyllene, Eric and Sookie paring

*A Marriage of Inconvenience by Queen of Area Five, Eric and Sookie pairing

*Pour some sugar on me by BonTempsBaby, Eric and Sookie paring

So many others, just please go read everything. Start at the earliest time and work your way forward.

Is there something you wished I asked, and if so, what as well as the answer. There is, I hear this question a lot. I know other fandoms have this issue as well. “Do you think our fandom is dying?” My answer, “Fuck no!” I have been here since 2008 and I have seen my share of authors write, and then leave. Some go inactive for a while due to family responsibilities and others get excited about another fandom. Whatever the reason, those who stay are here because of how this world makes them feel. We are getting something here that we cannot get anywhere else. That makes this fandom special and worth weathering storms for.

Character Interview

11774396_10153551574921037_557726563_n

Name of Character: Eric Northman

Story he is in: Dead and Loving it!

Is (s)he an original Character or a series known? Most definitely a series known character. Beloved and drooled over.

Are they in character or Out of Character? Yes, probably. I try to stick to cannon but then I can’t, there were just too many mistakes and no solving of the issues I cared about.

Nickname(s): Baby (Only for Sookie’s use)

Date of Birth: Well over 1000 year old Viking Vampire

Occupation: Regent of Louisiana.

Stats (Aka Height, hair color, eye color, and so on): Long blond hair that he can braid or sling back in a low ponytail. Glacial blue eyes, 6’4 ft tall, lean muscular build, handsome bordering on beautiful when he smiles.

Significant other(s): Sookie Stackhouse

Best Friend(s): Pam Ravencroft

Enemies(s): Victor, Bill, and Freyda

Any noticeable Scars, Tattoos, or other markings: He does have a mole, but Sookie has threatened me harm if I tell where it is located. 😉

If they could have a Theme Song, which would it be? Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. Why? This song embraces who you are and doesn’t back down. It’s like he is raised from the dead every dusk anew. Takes what he wants and never apologizes. Very Eric Northman, if you ask me.

What is their favorite Movie? Right now, it’s The Avengers. He loves Thor and marvels at these superhumans and supernatural creatures who try and fight together under the same cause. Political alliances and friendship.

What is something that the fans don’t know about your character? Eric is willing to sacrifice himself for the ones he loves. Pam has been a wonderful partner in crime and child. He hates to think what his life was like without her wit. Sookie is his tangible ray of sunshine. He has and will continue to go through a gambit of emotions but love and devotion for his mate is the thing he cannot live without. He would give up forever to save them, because without them, his life is meaningless. Now, don’t worry, Eric wants to stay around with them a very, very long time. That is why he is so ruthless in vampire politics.

For me to find a story to review, was hard.  Because she has so many I am in love with!!! Seriously, go check her out!

Thanks for reading!
