This week we are getting to see the wonderful MySecretOFanFiction! I love her writing, and especially look forward to Fridays with her updates!
Basic information.
Can you please tell the people reading this your name? My Secret O FanFiction
Where do you like to post, and can you give us the site of your preferred medium? mysecretofanfiction.wordpress.com has all of my uncensored stories.
What do you prefer, Tea or Coffee? Neither. I’m a water lover.
What is your favorite beverage of choice? And if alcoholic and mixed, what are the ingredients? Water. Always and forever.
What is your funny story about trying something to drink and it rocked your boat and/or sucked? Alcohol makes my limbs numb, so it’s not exactly a fun time for me. I have no idea why it happens, only that I’m a lightweight. It’s always been like that, even when I was sneaking booze at 14. 🙂
What foods do you love? Most fruits and veggies, but not beets. Sweet dirt shouldn’t be a vegetable.
What is your go to food for comfort? Mashed potatoes and really good bread.
What do you like to snack when writing? Popcorn
Is there a scent that says home to you? I can’t quite put my finger on it…but I know it when I smell it.
Is there a scent you wish you never smelled ever? Durian and asafoetida powder. Why these things are a part of human cuisine is beyond me.
If you could visit a place, anywhere, where would it be? Iceland.
If you could go at any point in time, which would it be? Now.
What band do you like? of Montreal. I own all their albums and see them in concert every time they tour anywhere near me.
Is there a genre or song you hate? Twangy country.
Tell us something about yourself that you think your fans would love to know about: I have a cat, Tiny, who keeps me company while I’m writing. He’s by my side, forever purring, kneading, or sleeping, spurring on my writing with his kitteny love. He’s got backup too. My two dogs never stray far from where I’m working.
Thanks. That gives us some basic information. Now, about the writing – I know you’re excited…
Why did you start writing? I wanted to write stories I would read: uncomplicated, happy ever after, hot, loving, and respectful.
What do you enjoy the most about it? The feedback
What do you like least about it? The feedback 😉
That first time hitting publish, how did you feel? Nervous. Nauseated. Excited. In that order.
Where do you get your inspiration? Conversations with friends or ideas the pop into my head while I’m reading.
What is your writing area like do you use computer or paper, or both? Or another medium? I have a laptop, which means I can work wherever I want. Usually in my front room on the most comfortable couch ever.
Do you use an outline, rough draft or just write? At first, I wrote by the seat of my pants, but since I’ve been educating myself on the rules of writing, I outline everything, hitting all the major plot points, and then go for it.
What do you do while you’re writing (listen to music, TV in the background, etc.)? All I can hear is my pets breathing and the clock ticking. I need peace and quiet, which limits the amount of time I get to write. My house is chaos the rest of the time.
What annoys you the most when you are trying to write? Interruptions
If you have finished a fic, what was your feeling on it? I like most of the stories I’ve written. Some of the older ones (like Getaway) are rife with problems, but as long as my readers keep enjoying it, I spend my time writing new stories instead of endlessly editing the old.
What is your favorite fandom to write? SVM
Who are your favorite characters to write Eric, Sookie, Pam. I love writing Pam. I know I’m not alone on that either. She’s the best.
Why? Eric and Sookie are hot and have the potential to live happily ever after. Pam is the kind of woman I long to be: honest, funny, and dead sexy.
Who is your least favorite character to write? Bill
Why? Because he has no redeeming qualities as far as I’m concerned.
What is your favorite scene or story you have written and why? My favorite scene in my FF writing would have to be in my story Switched, which features Eric in Sookie’s body. I laughed until I cried while I was writing him getting his very first period. 🙂
What is the most difficult story or scene you have written, and why? Kitten and Sugar Pie. It’s a story featuring Pam and her girlfriend. Writing intimate scenes between two women is difficult for me because I haven’t experienced it first hand. I had to imagine myself in each of their roles and then write how I would respond. It was very challenging.
Do you see any characteristics in the characters you write? I always try to write intelligence into my main characters.
Which ones and whom? One of the things that bothers me most about SVM canon is Sookie being a dumb blonde/doormat. She can be naive, stubborn, mouthy, and emotional. Those things make her human…relatable. But stupid? No thank you.
What do you like most about your preferred fandom? I get to write Eric. That brings him to life in my mind. He’s good company to keep.
How would you describe your fics? Angst-free, erotic, and usually feature the emotional growth of one or both of my main characters.
What story would you recommend of your own for a new fan to start first? Switched. It’s my favorite by far.
Character Interview
Name of Character: Eric
Story he is in: all of them
Is he an original Character or a series known? SVM
Are they in character or Out of Character? A little of both. Whenever I write ‘my’ Eric, I always infuse him with a bit of humanity: flaws and emotions.
Date of Birth: Over a thousand years ago
Occupation: Sheriff
Stats (Aka Height, hair color, eye color, and so on): 6’4” blond, blue eyes, Viking
Significant other(s): Sookie
Best Friend(s): Pam
Enemies(s): Anyone who gets in his way
What is his favorite book? American Gods, by Neil Gaiman
What is something that the fans don’t know about your character? My Eric is always more in touch with his human side than he ever was in SVM or TB. Yes, he’s been around for a while, but that doesn’t mean he’s lost his connection to the world he lives in and the people he shares his life with.
I still read this author as she publishes stories. The two I am reviewing are ones I loved of hers, and it is a story so free of angst and drama, that it was a breath of fresh air.
Thanks for reading!
