Review for Anticipating by Meridian

Yep, Today is Tuesday.  We are finishing up Meridian’s stories, and I will be moving on to another author.

I have been told that you guys are freaking awesome, and Meridian is really impressed with you guys and your reactions.  Her site stats are going up and it makes her thrilled when she gets the notice I reviewed another story.

So… I am being durty.  Her word.  I am giving you guys my absolute favorite story of hers in hope you inspire her to write the sequel.  Honest, I’m using my powers for good!

Name of Story: Anticipating

Fandom: TB/SVM

Author: Meridian

Site: http://addicted2godric.wordpress.com/everything-anticipating/anticipating/

Rating (If Applicable): M

Pairing: Godric/Oc (Cara)

Description (Authors): When Cara saved Isabel one dark and scary night, Godric felt much more for the daring, beautiful human than mere gratitude. This is just my take on how things could be.  It starts a bit slow, kinda dreamy…but that doesn’t last too long.  AU/Other Character; NOT canon.  It’s actually a faster read than you’d think considering the number of chapters…

Review:

This is the first story of Meridian’s I read, and how I found her. I ended up following her on AO3. And I bugged the crap out of here for updates. It was the beginning of a great friendship.

But… I hounded her for updates. I love Godric. He is what brought me to the TB Fandom. After I exhausted reading him did I find Eric IzMine’s and we went off from there. (She is sadly, not one of the authors I can interview here.)

Meridian came after I had been sitting in the fandom and started my own story. I was more than eager to read a Godric story, and found this one. I was tentative, it is an OC. And to admit it, I was bored as hell. So I said what the hell, I will read the first chapter. Continue reading Review for Anticipating by Meridian

Twilight Author Interview: ncbexie25

ncbexie25

And ladies and Gents, here is an interview with a long standing author who has decided to break into the non-canon world! ncbexie25!

So we are going to start out with some basic information for all of you.

Can you please tell the people reading this your name you go by, can be real or penname?

For my non-canon fanfic, I’m ncbexie25. For my canon stuff: just bexie25.

Where do you like to post, and can you give us the site of your preferred medium?

I’ve posted on FF.net and FictionPad, but I definitely prefer FF.net

Non canon: https://www.fanfiction.net/~ncbexie25 (and for my Facebook NC group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/231382977059438/)

Canon: https://www.fanfiction.net/u/2889496/ (and for my canon Facebook groups: https://www.facebook.com/groups/327932867322639/ and https://www.facebook.com/groups/118639404965906/)

What do you like to snack when writing?

Anything, really. I definitely prefer chocolate over lollies, and maybe the occasion piece of cheesecake. I don’t really have a preference, haha. I write when I’m eating breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacking. Lots of Diet Coke and Sunkist if I’m staying up and need a little punch of caffeine to help me ‘cause I’m not really into tea or coffee.

Like the question above but what do you listen to when you write, do you have a playlist for certain stories?

You know, I used to not listen to anything when I wrote, and rather I’d listen to songs when I was going for a walk, or commuting between places, or even just around the house sometimes. I’d have certain songs that I liked to listen to for certain stories of mine. With my first venture into NC, I wanted to make the characters mine, so after I got the original idea, I took about 4 months developing the characters and writing up the plan. I’ve got over 20 pages for each, now.

It was during those periods of non-writing that I’d find songs (though I still am now as I just added a few songs a couple days ago; there are about 37 now), and I’d collect them together into a playlist. The first song I found was Love Me Tender—first Presley’s version (click here to listen and please do! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Y-bd3aDMGA) but then Norah Jones’ version (click here to listen and please do! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gzC29VwE1A) ‘cause I was thinking of a female singing it. To me, she has a bit of a southern lilt when she sings which fits since she’s southern and Bella is as well. With the idea already swirling in my head, it grew the more I listened to those versions. That night I couldn’t sleep because I was coughing so much and I must’ve listened to it for six hours or something.

The first time I used the playlist was in Italy when I was writing up characters and the plot. By then there were more songs, but not by too much. The playlist is so important, because a lot of them are songs that Bella ‘writes’, or something that one or both feels, or an insight into one of their thoughts (they will all turn up in the story somehow) and one that I found from my brother when I visited him in England became the title of the fic (Sarah McLachlan’s In the Arms of An Angel—click here to listen and please do! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SiylvmFI_8). That one is truly Bella, before she meets Jasper again—her loneliness, her desperation, what she feels when she wakes up and is dragged back to a reality she doesn’t want to live. And you’ll see how it relates more as the story goes on.

I know I’m having trouble writing when I turn on my Korean pop playlist. That’s my last save, and for some reason, it always gets me into the zone and starts a frenzy. Perhaps it’s the fact that I can’t understand the words, but it serves to block everything else out, meaning no distractions—just writing.

So, I don’t normally/always have a concrete playlist, but it’s certainly become a must for this story.

P.S.—Please take a listen of those youtube links, either now or when you read my story again (if you’re a reader already) or even just to see if it is something you might be interested in. I like to think that my characters are able to sing in many voices, so each song is their voice, even if there are different artists in a playlist—which there are. These song links are really important because they are embedded so deeply in the story.

P.P.S.—My Jasper sings. And I have songs for him exclusively in the playlist, too.

If you could visit a place, anywhere, where would it be? Continue reading Twilight Author Interview: ncbexie25

Review for Eric Northman:After the Show by Meridian

Good evening (or day whichever applies)  I have another review for Meridian done.  She is hinting that while she told me Monday, she is working on the next chapter after this for after the True Blood episode tomorrow.

So sit back, and enjoy a story that helps wash your mouth of the foulness we have been forced to take without that so called spoon of sugar.

Or maybe this is the sugar?

Name of Story: Eric Northman: After the Show

Fandom: TB/SVM

Author: Meridian

Site: http://addicted2godric.wordpress.com/eric-northman-after-the-show/

Rating (If Applicable): M

Pairing: Eric/Sookie

Description (Authors): So, what will Eric Northman do when True Blood is over? How did True Blood even come about? Romantic, Dramatic, and semi-Humorous tale of what could have been/might could be. E/S, Godric is Eric’s Maker (naturally!), no vamp Bill, and with some/many elements from THAT BOOK SERIES. This story is definitely AU, and not meant to be taken TOO seriously. Elements of both TB and SVM.

Review:

Ok… I have a posting for Tuesday, but… That little birdy flew back in today. Saying there will be an update to this story on Monday. Pretty accurate little birdy!

This is a story that bounced off of her when she was writing Valentine’s Night. (Which I will be reviewing so I can have that epilogue!)

It is only one chapter, but after our ‘fun’ episodes we have been getting on True Blood, she has been motivated to write more on this one. It starts off at the end of season 6 and the infamous burning scene that was supposed to write Eric off the show. She proceeds as though it really is the end, and you get Eric’s thoughts on it. One being he is a real Vampire and this is a show to show the world that vampires can be ok when they come out.

This fic does not pull any punches, and I totally agree with her. She also builds her world around the idea that Eric is real, and mentions Alexander as the actor who looks like him and does his day roles and so on.

This is a fun, but helps any fans who might be disgusted with the show right now cheer. Also any fans of how the book should have been finished will be thrilled with the viewpoint of the Main Character. There are many instances of thoughts of what is going on behind the scenes. You learn much about the set through a series of mental comments, and you are chuckling along with the creative put downs.

I will say, as a reviewer, and a friend, I got a sneak peek into the next chapter. I have read the first page in seconds, that being how good it is. It is not in Eric’s POV, but you are thrilled with the next character, if you are a fan of hers. I will give you a hint. The last word in the first chapter.

Go enjoy the chapter, and Monday you will be getting a new installment. Don’t forget to follow her WordPress page, and she also has a Facebook group for discussing her work with her fans as well as letting you share her love for kilted men. Don’t ask, just go and enjoy….

TWILIGHT STORY REVIEW: INTENSITY BY MAMA4DUKES

Name of Story:Intensity

Fandom: Twilight

Author:Mama4Dukes

Site:https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7368587/1/Intensity

Rating (If Applicable): M

Pairing: Paul/Bella

Description (Authors):Twelve years have gone by since Paul and Bella walked away from La Push and reached for success. When they unexpectedly run into each other, the pack suddenly comes trickling back into their lives. Time changes people but can it change traditions? AU/OOC

Review:

A wolf story! By all means mama4dukes is an amazing writer, yes I am a fan, HUGE fan to say the least. It starts off with Paul, and his complicated and royally idiotic girlfriend, though that really doesn’t last long. Things get interesting when Paul bumps into Bella at her local place and Imprints.

This Paul isn’t also the one we know and love in the books, well he is in a way. He’s not as hot tempered, he owns his own construction business. Everything seems to be more realistic than the books.

This is when things get interesting-er, they start to get to know each other, accepting the imprint of course after a lovely steamy session. Then it continues with the intro of a new pack, of Jake and Angela back in Pauls and Bella’s lives to wreck havoc…

But you will all have to go read and see for more details, though incomplete it really doesn’t matter. You will love it!

Review for Decisions, A Godric and Cara Story by Meridian

Hi!  I have a story that I talked to this little birdie who flew in my window tonight, and told me there was an update coming for this story.

Also.  From now on, I will be posting on Tuesdays.  We have talked together and Tuesdays will be mine.  I will allow the other ladies tell you their days.  This does not mean we can’t pop up on another day, so don’t get complacent.  We like to shake things up around here.

The Twisted Fairy Tales contest is still going on!  Please submit a story to us by July the 30th deadline.  We also have a tumblr account that we have put some ideas out there to be used…

Name of Story: Decisions, a Godric and Cara story

Fandom: SVM/TB

Author: Meridian

Site: www.Addicted2Godric.Wordpress.com/Decisions

Rating (If Applicable): M

Pairing: Godric/OC (Cara)

Description (Authors): Decisions…a different “Godric and Cara” story. Godric is a very powerful, enigmatic vampire over 2000 years old. Cara is a 23 year old cheeky human office worker. Where will their decisions lead? OC/OOC, *not* True Blood canon. “M” future lemons. Minor Eric/Sookie appearances planned. *While HBO/True Blood owns the character “Godric”, I own the character “Cara”.*

Review:

This is a story I didn’t start for a while. Why? Not because of me not liking Meridian’s work, but because I get captured by her stories and hate waiting. So I generally wait awhile and then start the stories. Hey, she does the same to me! LOL.

This is another Godric and Cara story. Godric is from TB, one of the few great things they actually did was introducing him as Eric’s Maker. Cara is from Meridian. She made up the character, and did an awesome job with it.

In this story, there is not much canon at all. Eric is Godric’s Child. And that is about it. The Club is not the same, nor is the backstories.

Instead you have a beautifully made world of Meridians invention and you often find yourself at the end of the chapter glued to the screen yelling at it saying, Hell NO!! More!!!! (Shh keep that part quiet please! I try not to tell her how much I want to scream and yell.)

The story starts out quite innocently. Our Lead Character is out at the local bar having drinks with her office workers. She tells of odd things, like her coffee being handled with more care than the other’s more expensive drinks. The fact that a new waitress had known to only fill the cup half full of coffee to allow her more milk in her coffee. She also had a sensation of being watched. She also wonders what it is about this club that they all keep coming here all the time.

This is only the beginning of the questions. The way Meridian describes the beginning of the story, is enough to hook you right in. You are snagged by the wording, and the mystery. I will tell you know, she is good at that. There is still a mystery going on (even though you solve the one that you started off with) to the point that I am impatiently waiting on the next chapter. Which a little birdie told me will be up in a day or two.

I highly recommend this one. If you have never read a TB story, then you are fine to start here. In fact, you would be better than the rest of us, who have the canon in our heads and wonder all the time even more mystified on what is going on. She acts like her readers have not read anything before, so you are fine to start off. It is her world, one that exists in her head and none of us are familiar with it. But I warn you, if you start, you too may start banging your head on the monitor, demanding more.

Good luck!!
